POLISH HYDROGEN AND FUEL CELL TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM

The Polish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Platform includes 40 subjects.
Of these, 13 subjects are chemical companies and industrial works like Polski Koncern Naftowy
PKN ORLEN S.A., Polish Power Networks, S.A., Nitrogen Works Tarnów-Mościce S.A.,
Nitrogen Works Puławy S.A., Coal Company S.A., Southern Poland Power Company,
Polimex-Mostostal SIEDLCE S.A., and Seven Rocks Mining Sp. z o.o.
The Platform includes also 15 superior education and scientific research institutions like
Warsaw Technological University, Silesian Technological University, Main Mining Institute,
Petroleum and Gas Institute, Technological University of Mining and Metallurgy, and also
3 Centers for Advanced Technology, 1 Excellence Center, Polish Chamber for
Chemical Industry, and Polish Association for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells.
Activity scope - Hydrogen technologies and fuel cells

Hydrogen demand estimates and hydrogen consumption prognoses for Poland

Developing a program for the use of hydrogen by Poland's industry
-
Outlining the strategies for developing and introducing hydrogen technologies in power and other industries
-
Developing technologies for production (from natural gas and from coal), purification, transportation and storage of hydrogen and also associated technologies
-
Production of hydrogen by reusing vegetable and industrial waste materials
-
Fuel cells as sources of pure energy and as chemical reactors and their applications
-
Developing and optimizing the materials to be used in high- and low-temperature fuel cells, including design and construction of prototype fuel cells of the IT-SOFC type to be applied in distributed power systems and in low-temperature polymer cells fed with hydrogen (H2-PEFC) or with methanol (DMFC)

Hydrogen derived from the electrolysis run by the use of non-conventional energy sources.
PLATFORM's principal objectives:

Joining the major activities of the European Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Platform

Enhancing the competitiveness of Poland's economy in the area of production and utilization of hydrogen in power, chemical, and gas industries and in other industries with the application of fuel cells

Outlining vison and preparing a strategy of development of fuel and power sectors, chemical sector, and agriculture within the range of production and utilization of hydrogen

Cooperation in the creation of the policy and legislation stimulating the innovativeness in the industry and facilitating the development of hydrogen technologies

Integration of the key economy and research activity partners interested in hydrogen technologies

Building a bridge to span industry with science

Conducting an international cooperation in near-border regions

Promotion of the Polish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Platform and of the technologies for producing and utilizing hydrogen in Poland and in the European Union.
